What is Hague Convention of 1961?

The treaty that substitutes a single Apostille for multi-layer legalisation between member states.

In detail

Administered by the HCCH Permanent Bureau in The Hague, the Convention reduces authentication of public documents between member states to one certificate. Thailand's accession enters into force on 28 February 2027; afterwards Thai documents going to member states can use an Apostille, while non-member destinations continue to require embassy legalisation.
