What is Apostille?
A standardised certificate under the Hague Convention that replaces embassy legalisation between member states.
In detail
An Apostille is issued under the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents. Once affixed by the country of origin, member states must accept the document without further embassy legalisation. Thailand has acceded to the Convention, with entry into force on 28 February 2027. Until that date, Thai documents still follow the Department of Consular Affairs plus embassy legalisation route.
