Studying abroad: universities in Australia, UK, US, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong typically request Certified True Copies of passport and transcripts; some require NAATI or Notary depending on the country.
Visa applications: student, work, business, fiancé/spouse — every embassy requires Certified True Copies of ID, house registration, financial proof, and marriage certificate (if applicable).
Marriage registration overseas: civil registries usually require Certified True Copies of passport and birth certificate; Germany and France, for example, require additional German/French translations attested by the consulate.
1) Always bring genuine originals — copies of copies are not acceptable. 2) Copies must be clear, with no folds across content and no copier watermarks. 3) For multi-page documents, copy every page including blanks so the attorney can bind and apply edge stamps. 4) Some embassies require government documents older than 6 months to be re-issued before notarization.

In Thailand the role is called Notarial Services Attorney. The Lawyers Council of Thailand's 2008 regulation on 'Notarial Services Attorneys' allows accredited lawyers who complete the special course and register to perform Notary-equivalent acts. Their seal and signature are accepted overseas after MFA + embassy legalization, or via Apostille from 28 Feb 2027.
The notarization itself takes 15-30 minutes in-person and can be completed same-day. Adding MFA + embassy legalization takes 3-7 more business days; the Apostille route takes 1-2 business days for Hague Convention member states.
